Join us on Wednesday, June 17th from 7 pm to 8 pm at the Ebenezer Baptist Church (corner of E New and N Lime - entrance at parking lot) for a community meeting hosted by Little Free Library and Frank Byrne of Musser Park Neighbors.
Little Free Library is a "take a book, return a book gathering place where neighbors share their favorite literature and stories". This national movement allows neighbors to build small libraries and place them in front of their homes so anyone can stop by, grab a book and have instant access to something to read. As more libraries pop up in our community, more choices for reading become available. This month we will hear from Frank Byrne about the success of the Little Free Library in Musser Park. We will use the remainder of our time to get a start at constructing our own libraries to put around the neighborhood. Let us know you are coming so we can plan ahead. The Ross Street United Methodist Church and Otterbein United Methodist Church will join Neighbors United in hosting a Community Yard Sale on Saturday, June 20th from 7 am to 2 pm. Each neighborhood church is participating in this event to benefit the community with a bake sale and by renting spaces for the yard sale. Proceeds will benefit Neighbors United Safer, Greener, Cleaner initiative. Neighbors are encouraged to set aside June 20th as the BEST day to sell in our neighborhood. Besides anchor locations at both churches, neighbors in the community may also have their own yard sales on this date. We will advertise through social media and ask everyone to spread the word about our yard sale. 8' tables will be available to rent for $10.
Baked good donations are accepted. For more information, contact Sue. The team at Neighbors United has some important information to share with you. We are so excited about what is going on in our neighborhood that we decided to send out the May newsletter a few days early! We hope that you will take a few minutes to read about the progress we've made in creating a Safer, Greener and Cleaner community together. We've also included some important events that you and your neighbors will not want to miss. Enjoy! We welcome Millie Kauffman and her newest venture, Adorable Baby Clothing, to the neighborhood! Adorable Baby Clothing (ABC) is our neighborhood's newest consignment shop. Clean and colorful clothes, shoes and toys are curated for children from infant to 5T. Designer brands and store brands alike fill the racks. Truly, the shop is stunning. Millie Kauffman, owner, believes in second chances. ABC is not just a store which gives clothing a second chance, it is also a reflection of her own victories in life that gave her a second chance to do what she really wanted to do. Millie put much thought into the space. The room is bright and cheery. Beautiful birds, butterflies and other whimsical designs adorn the shelves and walls. Everything from her choice in design to the quality of clothing is testimony to the idea that she wanted to create a place where she would have no regrets shopping for her own grandchildren. Second chances abound at ABC. The redesigned interior is a welcome improvement to our neighborhood's stock of retail space. The clothing is secondhand, reusing clothes is an economical alternative to throwing them out. Even the gift bags are made from recyclable materials. Since ABC opened shop on the corner of North Shippen Street and East New Street on March 24th, Millie has met many neighbors who have found beautiful clothes for their loved little ones. ABC is open Tuesday through Friday 10 am to 5 pm and Saturday 10 am to 3 pm. The shop is conveniently located along RRTA bus routes 2 and 5. Of course, most neighbors could easily walk to the store. ABC accepts Visa, Mastercard and Discover. For more information about our newest neighborhood store, visit: Adorable Baby Clothing
