2000 to PRESENT
For two decades, Neighbors United has served Lancaster City's Northeast, providing opportunities to improve the quality of life in our neighborhood by becoming informed citizens who take an active role in our community. Monthly meetings and special events brought residents of the Sixth Ward together to get to know each other and take care of their neighborhood.
CRIME AND TALKING TRASH
Neighbors United ushered in a new millennium with a renewed focus on preventing crime and cleaning up the Sixth Ward.
SAFER, GREENER, CLEANER
Through neighborhood revitalization and beautification initiatives, neighbors and local businesses partnered with the Lancaster City Alliance to help make our corner of the City a safer, greener and cleaner place to live, work and play. Expansion of the LCA Bike Ambassadors into our neighborhood brought a second set of eyes to identify problems and help people along the way; Tree Tenders offered street and yard tree donations expanding our City's urban canopy; and local businesses installed trash cans to help reduce litter. Additionally, neighbors formally joined the City's Adopt-a-Block program, plogged and found other meaningful ways to get involved.
NATIONAL NIGHT OUT
When you ask someone if they've heard of Neighbors United, often the first thing that comes to mind is the annual block party on the 700 block of North Shippen Street. The event, focused on reconnecting neighbors and forming stronger bonds with City leaders, local law enforcement and first responders, brings hundreds of neighbors from nearby blocks.
