Neighbors United uses the NextDoor app to connect. Over the past few weeks, you may have noticed some changes on NextDoor. First, we extended our neighborhood boundary to include the 6th Ward and our neighbors along New Holland Ave. We believe that NextDoor is a great way to connect and we have good friends who are already a BIG part of Neighbors United that wanted to interact with us via social media. We hope they will now share the great news and invite many friends to our meetings, events and to join us on NextDoor. Next, we saw an opportunity for our neighbors along Duke Street and inward. Some already attend our meetings and have connected with us at neighborhood events. Unfortunately, there was a line drawn in NextDoor that did not allow our neighbors across the street to connect. Now the borders reflect our neighborhood outreach. We are pleased to see these changes. This is not just another app. NextDoor has become the main tool for communication in our neighborhood. As we look forward to the next few months, there will be even more excitement as we see how our partnership with the Lancaster City Alliance will positively impact our community. We hope to see you in person at our first neighborhood meeting of the New Year tomorrow, Wed, Jan 21, 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM at the Ebenezer Baptist Church (corner of N. Lime and E. New). We look forward to an informal time to get together, share a potluck meal and talk through our plans for 2015. Bring a small dish, side or dessert to share with your neighbors Andrew Wesley Whalen Neighbors United Co-Chair Neighbors United together for a Safer, Greener and Cleaner Community Visit our website: Neighbors United | NextDoor "The Lancaster City Alliance is an expression of our community. The Alliance activities reflect what the community wishes to see and, as such, touches each and every one of us. Personally, the Alliance says "we care" to us every time we see an ambassador, street sweeper, trash can, or any of their other efforts. We look forward to welcoming the Alliance services to our neighborhood in the near future.” - Noah Miller The Neighbors United and Lancaster City Alliance partnership is officially underway, working to bring new services and programs into our neighborhood. Noah Miller, NU Co-Chair, is taking the lead on this initiative as we meet with city officials, community leaders, local and regional business partners and residents to raise awareness of our community needs and find funding for this initiative.
"Change is always hard, but it is also always a good thing. Opportunities have been opening up for us and I see even more wonderful things happening to the neighborhood. It is very evident that the rest of the city is admiringly watching us. Keep up the good work we have going on!" - Denise Freeman Noah Miller and Andrew Whalen have agreed to take over the leadership of our group as Co-Chairs. Both of these young men are very active and concerned neighbors who have been working for quite some time to make our neighborhood an even better place to live. They have lots of great ideas and will reach out and bring the all the diversity of our neighborhood into our group. We need to hear from and have involved representation and voices from all the various age groups and cultures that make up the Neighbors United area. Andrew and Noah have some great ideas about how to do that.
Please share your concerns, questions and support with both of them as they begin to take our neighborhood group into new directions. Ross Street UMC and Monte Gerizim Supports Neighbors United and Lancaster City Alliance Initiative10/17/2014
