Announcement: The Lancaster City Alliance, Bike Ambassadors, will cease patrol of the Northeast on July 31

7/13/2018

In August 2016, with the help of generous donors the Lancaster City Alliance Bike Ambassadors were expanded into the Northeast. Since their arrival property values have steadily risen; in fact they are 46% higher than two years ago when the program was launched.

This has been a successful undertaking and with greater capacity the board of NU would like to have expanded this to the entire Northeast. Unfortunately, at this time, to ensure sustainable progress towards the rest of NU’s goals to achieve a cleaner, greener, and more welcoming neighborhood, this is not possible.

The service of the LCA Bike Ambassadors in the Northeast will come to an end on July 31. The board of NU thanks the neighbors, donors, and LCA which made the expansion first possible and wants residents to know that just because this particular service will come to an end at this time, the group is hard at work on goals for 2018/2019. These include expansion of the original focus area into the Northeast, extending to the McCaskey campus and the area near 6th Ward Park. Seeking funding for projects like residential and commercial façade improvement, installation of trees and trash receptacles, implementation of the walkability study and continued alignment with the Lancaster Cemetery.

On behalf of the Neighbors United leadership we thank you for supporting this neighborhood effort. If you would like to discuss this further, please join us at our July 19th gathering. We would love to hear from you.
